Mark your calendars for the next Osprey Watch Alliance meeting, scheduled for April 19 at the Gloucester Public Library.

OWA Center for Conservation biologist and speaker, Michael Academia, will complete training for recording our spring osprey nest observations in the soon to be launched upgraded osprey watch website. He shared that it will vastly improve reporting observations.

The OWA would also like to have a share session among those attending the meeting about nest successes and challenges. In the future, Academia hopes to feature osprey stories as part of OWA’s campaign in which it features watchers and their experiences with ospreys on the osprey watch website.

The OWA is pleased with responses to its pleas for osprey platform owners to participate in the camera study. “Thank you so much!” an OWA spokesman said. If you have questions about the project, email Academia at macademia@wm.edu.

Finally, the Osprey Watch Alliance mission: To sustain and increase a healthy osprey population in the Chesapeake Bay area through citizen science and awareness, education, advocacy and community involvement.

For information regarding the upcoming OWA meeting, email Tomoko Hamada (hamada.tomoko.san@gmail.com) or Sherry Rollins (baytchr@msn.com).
