LANCASTER—Tickets are now on sale for the Northern Neck Orchestra’s 2023-24 concert season that features an expanded program of four concerts conducted by music director Michael Repper, including a new festive holiday concert.
The performances showcase music by Ludwig van Beethoven, Benjamin Britten, Antonin Dvorak, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky and highlight exceptional composers in their first performances by the Northern Neck Orchestra: Elfrida Andrée, Jessie Montgomery and Andrew Synnott.
Season tickets for the four concerts are $128. Tickets for individual performances are $40. Tickets can be purchased at www. northernneckorchestra.org or at the door. Students are admitted free.
“Please join the Northern Neck Orchestra for a memorable 2023-24 season of great music performed by the orchestra’s talented musicians and our exceptional Grammy Award-winning music director Michael Repper,” said president Michelle Lybarger. “We’re especially excited to present an expanded season of four concerts for the fi rst time.” She added that patrons of the orchestra will be receiving a season brochure shortly.
The concert season will open at 3 p.m. October 15, at the Northumberland High School Theater in Heathsville. The concerts on December 16, March 2 and May 11, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. at the Lancaster Elementary School Theater in Kilmarnock. Repper will host talks on the program before every performance.
The October 15 concert will feature Britten’s Simple Symphony, the Virginia premiere of Montgomery’s Rounds for Piano and String Orchestra, with Repper at the piano, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7.
