LANCASTER—It’s time to go fishing for a cause.

Registration is now open for the 15th annual Dream Fields Spanish Mackerel Fishing Tournament on August 19. Proceeds benefit Lancaster County Little League and Dream Fields, 1385 Irvington Road, Kilmarnock.

Some $5,400 in cash prizes will be awarded, including a $2,500 first prize, according to director Amy Forrester. Second prize is $1,000, third $750, fourth $500 and fifth $250. Prizes are based on a 60-boat entry, said Forrester.

Junior, lady and special angler prizes will also be awarded. A Calcutta will be held at the captains’ meeting in the Hayden Building at Dream Fields on August 18.

A special $25,000 sponsored prize will be awarded if the state Spanish mackerel record is broken, said Forrester.

The entry fee is $175 per boat if postmarked or registered before July 1 and $200 after July 1.

The tournament is sponsored in part by Gilman Heating, Cooling & Plumbing and Chesapeake Boat Basin, 1686 Waverly Avenue, Kilmarnock. The boat basin on Indian Creek also serves as the weigh-in station.

To register, submit entries and check payable to YCLC, c/o Amy Forrester, PO Box 44, Kilmarnock, VA 22482, or visit the Dream Fields website, dreamfields.org.
