LANCASTER—The Friends of Belle Isle State Park recently delayed the opening of the 2020 Music by the River series. The family-friendly outdoor concerts are staged in the waterfront picnic area at Belle Isle State Park, 1632 Belle Isle Road, Lancaster.
Pending the relaxation of existing COVID-19 restrictions, the series will open July 11 with traditional country, southern rock and blues by Muddy Boots. On July 18, Out on a Limb will return with acoustic folk, country and rock.
On August 1, Faron Hamlin will kick up the classic country. On August 8, WildFlower Honey will bring a newgrass sound to the park. On August 15, The Honeywind Bluegrass Boys will close the season.
All concerts will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. Picnics are welcome. A limited number of picnic tables will be available. Bring lawn chairs or blankets.
The shows are free; however, there is a $5 parking fee payable at the park entrance. Cold soft drinks and bottled water will be available for a minimal charge.
Season sponsors include Tri-Star Supermarket; Bill’s Body Shop, Inc.; Chesapeake Bank; Dehnert, Clarke & Co. PC; Friends of Belle Isle State Park; Rappahannock Record; River Country 107.5; and WRAR 105.5.
