The beginning of 2024 means it’s time for the seventh annual Middlesex County Woman’s Club Bread Baking Class. This year’s class is set for 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at the group’s clubhouse in the colonial courthouse at 202 Virginia St. in Urbanna.
This will be a hands-on class, so be prepared to stir, squish, knead, roll and pound and to immerse your hands in the warm, gooey dough. While participants wait for the dough to rise, they will share a light lunch of demonstration loaves and soup brought by a volunteer.
Each participant will take home one or two loaves of almost-ready bread to finish baking at home. Ingredients will be supplied, but participants will be given a list of supplies (bowls, baking sheet, etc.) that they will need for the class.
Expect to spend $35, which will cover the cost of ingredients (which has increased since last year) and a donation to the club.
This class is open to the public and men are welcome. A school-age child can be included as your partner for no additional charge.
