Community invited to try out resurfaced courts weekends, after 5 p.m. on weekdays

by Don Richeson –

Middlesex County Public Schools recently had Middlesex High School’s (MHS) tennis courts resurfaced and new nets added. Additionally, pickleball lines were added to two courts in hopes the community could get some more use out of the courts. There is also a revamped practice wall.

The courts are available for the public to use after 5 p.m. weekdays and dawn to dusk on the weekends, MHS Head Tennis Coach Matt Short told The Rivah Visitor’s Guide.

“I’m also part of a small group of community tennis players that play at the courts on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m.-noon,” said Coach Short, a Technology Education teacher at St. Clare Walker Middle School in Locust Hill. “We’re always looking for new tennis players to join us.”

The courts are wired for easy installation of lights for after-dark play, but funds are currently unavailable for the installation. There are currently no public lighted tennis courts in Middlesex County, including at the Deltaville Community Association courts in Deltaville.
