RICHMOND COUNTY — The Menokin Foundation will host Power of Place: Conservation, Kayaking and Culture from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. July 13 at Menokin, 4037 Menokin Road, Warsaw.
This festival offers recreational activities for the whole family including kayaking, hiking, music, food, film and tours, according to director of communications Michael Beller.
The Power of Place event will open at 8 a.m. with a 7.5-mile kayak race along Cat Point Creek, organized in partnership with American Canoe Association. The race will be followed by a full day of family activities including pontoon excursions across Menokin Bay to explore the newly opened Cat Point Creek Wildlife Refuge with children’s hiking trails.
There also will be an opportunity to learn more about conservation in the Chesapeake Bay region and walk the trails in search of fairy houses.
The race entry fee is $25 for American Canoe Association members and $35 for others.
