NORTHUMBERLAND—The Heathsville Farmers Market will be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern (RHHT), 73 Monument Place, Heathsville.
The Northumberland Public Library “Mobile-Library” will be open for tours.
The Heritage Arts Center gift shop will be open. Shoppers will find artists in their studios with wares for sale. The Tavern Café will serve light luncheon fare and sweet treats, all made by the volunteers of the Tavern’s Culinary Group. Outside, a food concession stand will offer breakfast and lunch sandwiches.
Dating from the 1700s, the tavern is home to blacksmith, woodworker, quilter and spinner and weaver guilds.
Elsewhere in the Heathsville community, visitors will find interesting shops, attractions, eats and historical sites. Visit Ye Olde Book Shoppe, a used book store run by volunteers of the Northumberland Public Library. Browse a thrift shop run by St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. Check out Kathy’s Korner for unusual consignments. Take a tour of the Old Northumberland Jail, courtesy of the Northumberland County Historical Society. Pick up an Historic Heathsville Walking Map.
“Make It a Heathsville Saturday” takes place on third Saturdays April thru October. Each Farmers Market has a different theme. Primis Bank is a major sponsor of this community initiative.
The free outdoor concert is offered by RCA to raise awareness of its annual concert series.
