Spending more time outdoors is a fun and achievable New Year’s resolution and Machicomoco State Park in Hayes offers a variety of environments to explore.
- Visitors can use boat slips to fish for striped bass in the salt marsh or look for birds in the grasslands surrounding its Songbird Trail.
- Visitors can also enjoy the smell of pine while hiking on Loblolly Trail. Plans are under way for the Feb. 1 reopening of the park’s cartop boat launch.
