Deltaville boaters’ spring sock burning party

Barbara Ehman, left, of Fredericksburg and Liz Via of Urbanna toss socks into a fire as Charlotte Silverman of Morattico watches. They were among the scores who came out last year to participate in various forms of annual sock-burning revelry at Evolution Sails Chesapeake in Deltaville.

The burning of socks is a way to celebrate the arrival of spring and the start of the boating season.

This year’s Deltaville community boaters’ welcome spring sock burning party is set for 3:30-7 p.m. Saturday, March 25 at Evolution Sails at 17467 General Puller Highway (Route 33) in Deltaville.
