Check out new arts center in Gloucester

Flat Iron Crossroads is a nonprofit organization that has revitalized the site of a 100-year-old gas station into an intimate, modern performing arts center located on the corner of Flat Iron Road and Daffodil Lane in Gloucester. Just as gas stations have prepared travelers for journeys since the advent of motor transportation, Flat Iron Crossroads strives to help patrons discover avenues of musical adventure both familiar and untraveled.

Being a better performer is also a journey! Flat Iron Crossroads will educate the performing arts community in Gloucester and the surrounding counties of Virginia’s historic middle peninsula. By bringing performing arts workshops for all experience levels of performers, by partnering with local schools and colleges, and by creating mentorship programs, Flat Iron Crossroads is becoming more than just a fabulous venue to experience live music — it is a vital community — a culture of performing artists!

As its name implies, Flat Iron Crossroads is an intersection where performing artists and the music enthusiast meet. In eastern Virginia, there are limited spaces and opportunities for quality musical entertainment. We have revived the site of an old gas station, but we are also reviving the concept of the small performing arts center that was once embraced all over our country by legendary artists like Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, and Dolly Parton. Flat Iron Crossroads provides an intimate space designed to enhance the musical and theatrical experiences of its audiences.

Philosophers and poets have expressed the importance of music as long as such thoughts have been recorded. By booking the best in local, regional, national, and international acts, Flat Iron Crossroads strives to truly make Gloucester, and the eastern part of Virginia, an even more amazing place to live, work, and play.

Just under roof this spring is its outdoor stage. This has opened up new opportunities as they now can provide outdoor music and other entertainment. Its beautiful new stage and outdoor grassy area will accommodate even more artists and fans alike. Make sure you put Flat Iron Crossroads on your list of places to stop by and enjoy a show.
