Band of Oz is coming to the Northern Neck Beach Music Festival

WESTMORELAND — The Colonial Beach Community Foundation will host the sixth annual Northern Neck Beach Music Festival in the Town of Colonial Beach on September 14.

The festival, held on Town Hill, features a live concert showcasing three bands. Feature Attraction Band (F.A.B.), a beach music favorite, at noon. Playing for the first time in Colonial Beach is The Band of Oz, a Carolina beach music mainstay since 1967, followed by popular Motown Butta from Southern Maryland.

Beach Music Deejay Hall of Fame inductee and WWER 88.1 FM on-air personality Craig Jennings, from the Beach Breeze & Groves Show, will lead shag dance lessons and a dance contest. There will be a “Best Dressed Tent” contest with the winner receiving a free tent rental for next year.

New this year:

Bring Your Own Tent and set up on the river view grounds for $100. Denson’s Food Truck, beverages and Ingleside wines by the bottle will be sold during the day. Culligan Water will be on site with water coolers to refill your bottles. Please no outside food or beverages; however, you may bring empty refillable water bottles.

“This year will be our sixth Beach Music Festival in Colonial Beach! We’re excited to have Feature Attraction and Motown Butta back, plus Band of Oz for the first time,” said festival co-chairman Joyce Gunderson. “We just have a great time and it benefits the Colonial Beach Community Foundation.”

The Annual Northern Neck Beach Music Festival is a fundraiser for the non-profit Colonial Beach Community Foundation, which raises money for community projects to enhance the quality of life for residents in and around Colonial Beach. In addition to the music festival, the foundation will hold a raffle. Tickets are $50 each and the winner will receive $5,000—only 350 tickets will be sold. Proceeds benefit the foundation’s Community Crisis Fund supporting the local food pantries through grants. Raffle tickets can be purchased at https://givebutter.com/CBCF_Raffle.

“Our goal is to showcase and share our community while having a great time. Each year the Festival and the raffle contributes to the Foundation’s grant awards supporting local community needs,” said Michele Inderrieden, foundation president.

Advance tickets are available at www.givebutter.com/nnbeachmusic2024 for $35 each. After August 31, the ticket price goes up to $45. The event is rain or shine. Guests are urged to bring a chair. No outside food or beverages. Sponsorships and party tent rentals are available at beachmusiccbva@gmail.com.
