Atlantic Chamber Ensemble will perform ‘Warmth in Winter’ Feb. 6

The Atlantic Chamber Ensemble will perform “Warmth in Winter,” a chamber music concert, at Good Luck Cellars on February 6.

The Northern Neck Orchestra (NNO) will present “Warmth in Winter” at 2:30 p.m. February 6 at Good Luck Cellars, 1025 Goodluck Road, Kilmarnock.

The concert will feature chamber music performed by the Atlantic Chamber Ensemble (ACE), a dynamic group of young professional musicians based in Richmond. Ace is comprised of members of the Richmond Symphony and Williamsburg Symphony as well as faculty members of Virginia Commonwealth University, the College of William and Mary and the University of Richmond.

Tickets are $30 and may be purchased at the check-in desk or www.northernneckorchestra.org. Students are admitted free. Concertgoers are required to be masked.

With its combination of strings, winds and piano, ACE regularly performs a rich variety of musical styles as well as compositions that are rarely heard due to their unusual instrumentations. “Warmth in Winter” showcases music of composers from Europe, the United Kingdom, the U.S. and South America, including a treat for tango lovers.

“We are pleased to introduce this unique group of exceptional musicians to the Northern Neck,” said NNO vice president – musical guidance Eric Jacobson. “Their special talent and delightful music will provide a welcome warm up on a mid-winter afternoon.”

The program will feature selections from Johan Sebastian Bach’s “Suite” for solo cello, Darius Milhaud’s “Jeu” from Piano Trio, selections from Reinhold Gliere’s “Suite for Violin and Bass,” Malcolm Arnold’s “Divertimento” for flute, oboe and clarinet, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s “Trio Sonata” for flute, violin and cello, selections from Morton Gould’s “Benny’s Gig” for clarinet and bass, Karl Goepfart’s “Scherzo” for flute, oboe, clarinet and bassoon, Astor Piazzola’s tango “Saint Louis en L’ile” for violin and bass, Heitor Villa-Lobos’ “Choros No. 2” for flute and clarinet and selections from Georg Philipp Telemann’s “Tafelmusik” quartet.
